Am 24. und 25. November am ÖAI/ÖAW in Wien der Workshop „Accomodation and Living in Sacred Context“ statt.
Das Programm und weitere Informationen zu den Örtlichkeiten finden Sie hier.
The workshop focusses on questions connected to the accommodation of visitors and the living of affiliated personnel in varying sacred context from Greek Antiquity to the Islamic Period. The evidence presented and analysed includes both classical studies and archaeological sources with a special emphasis on concrete indications of (even collective) lodging in dialog with monumental remains. Within 5 large chronological sections selected examples of sacral pagan, Christian, Jewish and Islamic origin will be placed in a wider context to discuss elements of continuity and transformation, discontinuity and the establishing of particular forms of architecture and organisation.
